Bavarian Sports Club Soccer

The Bavarian Sports Club was formed as a soccer club in 1930 by a group of men that wished to continue the sport that they played in their native country before immigrating to the United States.  With the exception of short interruptions during World War II the club has maintained soccer teams continuously for 75 years.

The current teams consist of an “Over 30” and an “Over 40” team.  During spring, summer, and fall the teams practice at Oak Shade Grove on Wednesday evening starting at 6:00 PM.  Practice is informal and ages from teens through masters in their 70’s are welcome.  After practice the players travel to the Bavarian Sports Club, 2102 Lagrange St. for refreshments, camaraderie, and to watch soccer games by dish or on tape.

The “Over 30” group typically plays their games on Friday evening and the “Over 40” on Sunday evening.  The teams usually participate in tournaments in Windsor, Ontario and locally at the Bavarian Sport Club’s annual picnic. During the winter months the teams play indoor soccer at the Tam O’Shanter arena in Sylvania.
